Win a Verizon Nokia Lumia 822 | #VZWBUZZ

A fun part of being a Verizon Insider lifestyle ambassador is getting the chance to sample a variety of great phones! My focus in the past has tended to be on flagship, “iconic” devices but I am really happy to tell you that many of Verizon’s budget & mid price range devices offer a lot of features that when coupled with 4G LTE  speed gives the user a powerful tool. The Nokia Lumia 822 for Verizon, a Windows 8X phone that’s easy to use & delivers a shocking amount of value for a device that is currently FREE with a 2 year contract. Oh, I almost forgot, you’ll get a chance to win one for yourself :)

My Impressions

The Lumia 822 is thicker than many current phones on the market but the device is slightly curved at it’s shoulders and my husband found it quite comfortable to hold and handle. At 4.3 inches the AMOLED, Gorilla Glass 2 screen is  smaller than many android devices but the screen real estate is really crisp and bright with surprisingly good viewing angles thanks to Nokia’s ClearBlack display. The phone was easy to set up with Windows 8 Live Tiles present on the start screen. Live Tiles are customizable to your needs & offer a huge range of features that you can learn more about here. My husband loved how nicely the phone works with his Windows 8 laptop & was delighted to see Office Hub, OneNote, Bing & fully customizable email options.

Nokia has bundled a ton of great features here! Nokia Drive+ and Nokia Maps with voice turn by turn GPS navigation made driving through unfamiliar parts of California a lot easier for my husband, US maps are included free & many more are available to download. The Nokia Music app is a huge hit with my husband, you can stream & download tons of music for free. The app includes gig finder which will let you know about concerts coming to your area based on your music preferences and offers you the option to quickly purchase tickets. The 8MP Auto Focus rear facing camera with Carl Zeiss lens allowed him to take & quickly share great pictures along the way.

One downside to Windows phones that many reviewers have mentioned is the lack of Windows phone apps in comparison to ios or android. Fact is developers are adding new apps to the store at a rapid pace & Microsoft checks these offerings to make sure they are safe. I tend to like devices that grow with me & the Windows Phone Store will continue to do just that, offering users continued support and an ever increasing range of useful apps.

Conclusions

My husband really liked this phone, the screen quality is great & the device is ruggedly built, large enough to use comfortably while being small enough to tuck into his pockets. Setup was fast & the phone worked well with his Windows 8 laptop. He was pretty surprised with all the extras offered by a “budget” phone.
