The Happy Button Soap Company based in Chelmsford, MA is owned and operated by the lovely Bree. Per the shop description, this new artist opened her doors in Oct 2011 and strives to incorporate the scents of New England in her handmade bath & body products.
When reviewing a new company I like to order a few things in the same scent to see if the artist has mastered the art of conveying that scent across all the product lines it is offered in. For this review I’ll be focusing on the foaming sugar scrub & Silky Finish Body Lotion in the “Thirteen O’ Clock” scent. From the site’s scent description Thirteen is ‘The smell of Victory; Fresh cut long-stem red roses and bubbly champagne”
The Ordering Process, Speed of shipping & Order Packaging
The Happy Button site is quick to load, fairly easy to navigate & has an “all” button so you can see everything available for sale at a glance. This artist accepts Paypal (you can check out via Paypal as a guest using your credit card if you don’t have a Paypal account) & does not accept money order or check. Product pictures are clear & scent descriptions are easy to understand. My order was completed easily & I received order confirmation via email almost instantly.
I was shocked to receive a click and ship notice in less than 16 hours after placing my order! My box was on my doorstep in two days! The items were carefully wrapped in tissue paper & the box was decorated with cute paper buttons. The label art struck me as having a minimalist Gothic New England feel to it that I like. Two generous scrub samples in “Grasshopper” & “Orchids & Lilac” were included with my order.
Foaming Sugar scrub – I tend to prefer white, uncolored scrubs but the rose pink of Thirteen O’ Clock is lovely, this is a pretty, single color foaming scrub decorated in a restrained fashion with just a tiny bit of glitter. Upon opening the jar I was hit with the very clear scent of roses, not plastic, fake roses or the cloying rose scents worn by Grandma but rather the heady aroma of roses from a spring garden. This scrub produced great lather, the sugar provided a gentle but through exfoliation & to my great delight the champagne notes bloomed once it hit the water resulting in a fizzy, zesty floral experience.
The Silky Body lotion – with lead ingredients of water, Aloe Vera, Sunflower Oil & Jojoba Oil this is not a heavy butter based cream & is best suited for spring/summer use. Product glide is nice & the product sinks right in, on dry down the skin is left softly rose scented without feeling greasy, oily or tacky.
Happy Button gets big points for shipping speed, product presentation & scent consistency across product lines. The foaming scrub is holy grail good & the lotion while not heavy enough to meet my skin’s winter needs will be most adequate for use in warmer weather or for those who don’t require deep moisture. This new talent in the bath & body world is an up and comer for sure. I give the Happy Button 2 thumbs up!
