The lovely young women from Demeter set up a fragrance bar, we were invited to try the huge variety of perfumes in both spray & roll on form. After applying our scents we were invited to write down our fragrance memories & share them on the whiteboard. There was tons of excitement at the table! Some women excitedly sniffing & chatting, others standing quietly, eyes closed in rapture, transported back in time via scent to a special person or place.
Creating Scent Memories with Demeter Fragrances
Foodie that I am, I chose to try Birthday Cake, Demeter says this fragrance is ” chocolate cake with butter cream icing and pink icing flowers” At initial application ( you need to give a moment or two for the alcohol to dissipate) I detected the sugary sweetness of the icing, coupled with the richness of butter cream & glorious chocolate … oh my God, I smelled just like a delicious cake! Unlike other fragrances Demeter perfumes do not have top, middle & bottom notes, they are linear by design & express their full scent immediately. You won’t have to wait for hours to decide if a cologne is right for you.

Birthday cake was my favorite also, although I loved all the sweet food type of scents. I think I spent more time at the Demeter Fragrance table than I did anywhere else at the party.
Okay, first off…I am 39 and have never heard of this, which I find to be crazy sad. Secondly…thank you so much for the review..wonderful and I love how you described the Birthday cake and I definitely want! But my question would be, going away from traditional scents ie: flowers, spices and such; what is your opinion of smelling like a birthday cake? I mean, I know alot of guys might really like it..but would it be pleasant to walk by that scent on a night out? I really want to try it, but don’t want to be so impulsive that I just get it, try it once and that is that. So I would really like to hear your worldly thoughts on that and maybe what places would warrant a birthday cake smell…or would it be more everyday. Sorry, I forgot to add that I also love the roll on! I do not like carrying bottles of perfume in my bag, always scared they are gonna bust open and run everyone away! Up until a few years ago, I didn’t even know fragrances came in roll on…now that is all I try to buy! Also..was just at the Demeter website and saw they have Hello Kitty! Now I don’t know what is going on with me, it could be age or it could be the fact that I am surrounded by testosterone…but I am all over Hello Kitty stuff these days. Even my 5 year old brings anything Hello Kitty up to me when we are out shopping…he thinks I should have it all! Haha…I hope he still feels the same in 10 years!
Ocie, Every woman’s body chemistry is different, I wear chocolate notes beautifully. I tend to love the bakery or fruity scents best but Demeter has literally a scent for everyone. Keep in mind too that even if you don’t think a scent would be good in a leave on product, there’s always the option of the bath items or the room sprays & diffuser oils. I must tell you the room sprays are to die for nice!
Well I would love to walk around smelling like a big ol birthday cake, yummy. Just wondering what other people might think. I found 3 scents that I really want and will work on getting an order placed. Once again, I would like to thank you for your review and copying the link to facebook where I could find this Company!

I bought the purse sprays – which come in great plastic, apparently bulletproof containers so I’m totally not worried about spillage – in wisteria and crayon. I LOVE the crayon. Takes you back to being a kid, but it’s got a nice sweet scent to it. Not too obvious if you don’t know what it is. The wisteria is great, too, but doesn’t have the same childhood pull that I find so entertaining. Entertaining fragrance! Love that.

So glad you enjoyed yourself. I so enjoyed meeting you and wished that the evening would have gone on and on. I was able to go upstairs and sample the Demeter Fragrance line also. With over 200 scents I felt like a kid in a candy store. Maybe that is why I gravitated towards the Crayon scent. Who knew that that would have been the one to ‘talk’ to me. It must have spoken to my creative side!
Yours really did smell like birthday cake. I got “wet grass” I think. It made me remember laying on the football field late at night after the dew has fallen with my boyfriend when I was in high school. That was a good memory.
I would love to smell some of their non-traditional scents, like Paperback or Snow.
I love how you described the scent as linear. So often I like the smell of cologne when I first put it on, but don’t like how it smells on me a few hours later.
I love that. Scents are such a huge part of our lives. I like the idea of bottling up some amazing experience and being able to return there every day. :)
