For the past few weeks I’ve been testing the Nokia Lumia 928 on Verizon Wireless. Up to this point I’ve been lukewarm about the Windows phones because I found the app selection to be too limited for my needs. This time around I decided to tackle this review in a different way. My husband is out of town visiting family and I’m on my own in the kitchen. Cooking isn’t something I’m good at or inclined to spend a lot of time doing. I needed simple, easy to prepare meals that would also be reasonably healthy choices!
The Lumia 928 handles tasks very smoothly, I was able to quickly search the Windows app store and install my selections without a hitch. The screen on this phone displays rich colors and sharp easy to read text. This device is easy to use one handed, something I appreciated while I was pushing my cart in the supermarket.

You can even take a pic of a recipe and upload it, create grocery lists and save meal ideas you might want to try later. BigOven has a free and paid version.

Just type in your ingredients, enter your allergies, choose food category and a database of over 175,000 recipes is searched to find a dish that will work for you. You can also sort by number of servings needed or by calorie count.
Once I was done cooking my first meal I just had to take a picture to share with my husband. The picture quality on the Nokia Lumia 928 is excellent! My chicken and veggie stir – fry looked just as colorful on the screen is it did on my plate! I was delighted to find I could also upload this image to my Instagram account using the third party app 6Tag for Windows phone. I must tell you this app works really well, very impressed with how smooth it is.
Wrapping it up
The Lumia 928 is a solid phone with a beautiful screen and the apps I’ve listed here have really made fending for myself in the kitchen a lot easier. I look forward to continuing culinary adventures and exploring more features of this device in the weeks to come.
