Robert Guillemin aka ” Sidewalk Sam “& his Chalk One Up events are an institution here in Boston. My husband & I had the pleasure of attending his Copley Square event last Saturday. Famous for drawing masterpiece art on sidewalks, Sidewalk Sam, has devoted his efforts to . a non-profit arts organization that quite literally brings art to the people & uses that art to connect & unite people for a variety of very worthy causes!
For this event we were handed chalk & asked to write or draw something that was positive about another person, something that made us feel joy. Soon, beautiful colors began brightening the overcast, gray day.
Watching people of all ages put aside their errands to get down on the sidewalk & create something positive was inspiring! Soon Sidewalk art was in full bloom!
People from around the globe, of all ages, from all walks of life participated. Art became a living thing that connected us as we chatted with other artists from faraway places.
I do heart Boston & I love sharing bits of my life & Boston happenings here with you guys. I look forward to the next “Chalk One Up” event. Sidewalk Sam is not only a great artist, he’s an amazingly resilient, gracious person & I hope you’ll check him out!
FTC: I was not compensated in any way for attending this event & have no association with Art Street or Sidewalk Sam aside from that of devoted fan.
